"Among our tasks as witnesses to the love of Christ is that of giving a voice to the cry of the poor." ― Pope Francis
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is a community of faith, love, prayer, and action. The Society has been serving those in need on Long Island since 1855, and our conference at OLPH has been serving our parish for 68 years. Our mission is to serve the poor, the needy, and the disadvantaged through person-to-person service providing them with material aid, emotional support, and spiritual comfort. You can find out more about the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul here.
If you care deeply about others and want to make your life more meaningful, consider becoming a Vincentian. You will find that one of the best uses of your time is helping people truly in need. After an orientation, our members spend time working in our pantry or office one day every few weeks. We also work on various projects throughout the year to make the lives of our clients better. Some of us also go out to the poor making home visits to bring our care, concern, and help to those in need. We have meetings twice a month on Monday afternoons.
Our working days and times are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 1:30-3:00 p.m. In joining you can do more for your community and yourself than you ever imagined!
