As Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) we perform a great service to the parish by assisting in distributing Holy Communion to God’s people on those occasions where there are an insufficient number of priests and deacons to distribute Holy Communion to the people present at the Mass. It is and honor and a privilege to serve the Church in this capacity, and of course, it requires careful preparation. All EMHC’s should show the greatest reverence towards the Most Holy Eucharist by their demeanor, their attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread and wine.
Being Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, we are expected to continue to grow in our love of and understanding for the Eucharist and our ministry, through personal prayer and through participation in parish meetings and prayer experiences. You will find that being an EMHC will enhance your spiritual life and bring you closer to Jesus. Please contact us if you would like to join this beautiful ministry.
