The mission of the Census Committee is to collect data from parishioners in order to have an accurate and complete parish database of who our parishioners are. All parishioners of OLPH are requested to be formally registered with the parish so that we can know who the people of the parish are and so that we can adequately minister to them. Of course, all information is kept confidential and in the strictest of confidence. The information obtained assists OLPH to minister more effectively to those in our parish and serves as an important tool for pastoral planning into the future.
All Catholics who live in the geographic boundaries of the parish are automatically parishioners, but are requested to formally register so we can know you are there. Those outside the geographic boundaries who wish to make the commitment to having OLPH be their permanent, stable parish and place of worship are invited to contact the Pastor about becoming registered. Why is it important for the parish to maintain a census database of parishioners’ information? Well, there is strength in numbers and we believe communication is the key. This information helps us to keep in communication with you. When we’re all on the same page, OLPH will continue to be “the place to be!” In keeping with our mission, here is a message from Pope Francis given at the 48th World Communications Day on June 1, 2014: “In a world like this, media can help us to feel closer to one another, creating a sense of the unity of the human family which can in turn inspire solidarity and serious efforts to ensure a more dignified life for all. Good communication helps us to grow closer, to know one another better, and ultimately, to grow in unity. The walls which divide us can be broken down only if we are prepared to listen and learn from one another.”
