About April Kleinlaut
I grew up in Mastic, New York and attended William Floyd Schools until I was 16 years old. When I was 16, I moved to Levittown where I graduated from MacArthur High School.
I became more involved in my faith in college by becoming a catechist and getting involved with the Diocese of Rockville Centre Young Adult Program. I went to St. Joseph’s College for my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and C.W. Post for my Master’s Degree in Special Education. I worked in the teaching field for 9 years and taught religion for 13 years at St. Bernard’s. I enjoyed working at a Pre-school for 4 years in Oceanside. I decided to go to PFI (an educational program through the diocese) with the help from my St. Bernard’s Church community. That experience led me to my new career as a Director of Faith Formation.
I was the director at Blessed Sacrament Church for 3 years where I managed a smaller program compared to OLPH. After I began the position at Blessed Sacrament, I began the Master’s Program at the St. Joseph’s Seminary in Huntington. I will be graduating in May 2016 with a Master’s Degree in Theology. I began working at OLPH in 2013 and continue to enjoy sharing the faith with all the students and their families.
