About Father Ken Zach

Father Kenneth (Ken) Zach was born in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania. He has 3 younger siblings; 2 brothers and a sister. His parents were Theodore & Jane Zach (deceased). In 1959 they lived in Bayside Queens and in 1960 moved to Huntington, NY. His father worked at Grumman Aircraft for 28 years while his mother cared for the family at home.

Father Ken attended St. Hugh Grammar School then Holy Family High School, both in Huntington. He received a congressional nomination to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point but in God's eternal wisdom failed the eye exam. He went to St. John’s University as a Political Science major. There, through Divine Providence, he met Vincentian Priests in his theology classes who opened the possibility of the priesthood. He originally wanted to be an astronaut but opted for the Diocesan Priesthood & attended the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception in Huntington, NY. After 4 years he was ordained to the priesthood in 1981.

His first assignment was at St. Isidore Roman Catholic Church in Riverhead. Then for 18 months from 1988-1990 he went abroad to Rome to study Canon Law. After his studies he decided to take a leave of absence and upon his return he was assigned to St. Rose of Lima in Massapequa, NY. He served 5 years as Associate Pastor until he was reassigned and appointed Pastor of St. Isidore in Riverhead where he was first assigned upon ordination. Father Ken then returned as Pastor of St. Rose of Lima where he served for 13 years. In 2001 he served 3 years at Good Shepherd in Holbrook, NY. Presently he is Associate Pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Lindenhurst, NY.
